Georg Wierichs - Handpan Player & Teacher
I got my first handpan in 2010. It was a hang made by PANArt from Switzerland. This was preceded by an encounter with a handpan player in Barcelona, which made me want to play such an instrument as soon as possible. It then took a few more months, but eventually it worked. And since then the instrument has not let go of me.
Before that I played percussion instruments, especially congas, for many years. I was particularly drawn to the Afro-Caribbean rhythms. When I got my first handpan, there were hardly any lessons or tutorials. For me it was learning by doing. Later I did online courses with different teachers like David Kuckhermann and David Charrier.
My repertoire includes pieces I have composed myself, but I also enjoy playing cover versions of my pop and jazz favorites as well as handpan classics. You can find a variety of these pieces on my YouTube channel:

Would you like to learn to play handpan?
I have been teaching handpan for a number of years. To get started, I offer a 2-hour taster course. Here you can check whether the instrument is the right one for someone, which mood you like, which material you prefer, etc. This can be followed by a basic course, in which you can learn a lot about rhythms, melodies and melodies in about 8 teaching units of 90 minutes each , hitting techniques etc. learns. On the basis of this course, it is no longer difficult to develop your handpan independently. If required, videos and notation of all exercises are available. The lessons take place at my home in Münster.
